Dental Health Session for Pregnant Women
Last week, we held a dental hygiene session in collaboration with Because We Carry, an NGO that supports pregnant women and mothers with children. The session took place at Because We Carry’s community garden, located just outside Mavrovouni camp.
Because We Carry has created a welcoming and calm space where women can gather, rest, and participate in activities that support their wellbeing. This time, our team joined them to focus on something often overlooked but essential for overall health: dental hygiene.
During the session, our volunteer dentists shared practical tips with the mothers on how to care for their own teeth and their children’s teeth. From brushing techniques to understanding the impact of diet on oral health, the women also had the chance to ask questions. An important part of the session included screenings for everyone who felt comfortable, and appointments were booked when needed.
At CMA, we believe good oral health starts with knowledge. By providing dental hygiene education alongside our regular dental treatments in the camp, we aim to prevent dental issues before they arise and help residents feel confident in caring for their teeth every day.
We are grateful to Because We Carry for inviting us into their community garden and for their continued work supporting mothers and children on Lesvos.
