Q1 impact 2026
During the first quarter of 2026, we continued providing essential dental and pharmacy support to the displaced communities both on Lesvos and Kos. Through our integrated healthcare activities, we supported a total of 2,137 patients across both islands, responding to ongoing healthcare needs within constantly changing camp environments.
The first months of 2026 confirmed that both Lesvos and Kos remain key entry points to Europe for people seeking asylum. Camp populations on both islands fluctuated throughout the quarter due to new arrivals and onward movement to mainland Greece following asylum procedures. Despite these changes, the need for accessible primary healthcare and medication support remained high.
Dental Program – Lesvos
Through our dental clinic inside the Mavrovouni refugee camp on Lesvos, we continued providing free and accessible oral healthcare services throughout Q1.
Between January and March 2026, we delivered 317 dental treatments and supported 323 dental patients. The most common complaints included tooth pain, tooth decay, and dental sensitivity.
The procedures most frequently performed by our team included:
Fillings
Scaling and cleaning
Tooth extractions
Root canal treatment (RCT) stage 1 and stage 4
On average, approximately 11.2% of the camp population received dental treatment, reflecting both the high demand for services and the importance of ongoing outreach and patient engagement within the camp.
Pharmacy Program – Lesvos & Kos
Alongside dental care, we continued supporting patients through our pharmacy program on both islands.
In Q1 2026:
We supported 1,625 patients with medications on Kos in collaboration with Medical Solidarity International (MSI)
We supported 189 patients with medications on Lesvos
The medications most frequently distributed during the quarter included:
Analgesics (pain relief medication)
Antiparasitic medication for scabies
Antihistamines
Antibiotics
Gastroprotective agents
We are grateful to our partners, donors, volunteers, and supporters whose continued trust and collaboration make this work possible. We look forward to continuing and strengthening these efforts throughout the rest of 2026.
