Dental Health Promotion Session for Children in Mavrovouni Camp

As part of our ongoing dental program on Lesvos, we recently organized a dental health promotion session for children aged 4–7 years in the education area of Mavrovouni refugee camp.

Together with the children, we spoke about healthy brushing habits, oral hygiene, and the importance of caring for teeth from an early age. Through interactive discussions and demonstrations, the session aimed to encourage positive dental care routines in a child-friendly and accessible way.

Following the session, each child received a brief dental screening to help identify potential oral health concerns and determine whether further care was needed. Children requiring additional treatment were scheduled for follow-up appointments at our dental clinic inside the camp.

The following week, our dental team welcomed these children in CMA’s dental clinic for their scheduled follow-up care, helping ensure continuity of treatment and ongoing support for their oral health needs.

Preventive activities such as these remain an important part of our work, allowing us not only to provide treatment, but also to promote long-term oral health awareness within the community.

The activity was carried out in close coordination with the camp's education actors, ensuring that children participated in a familiar and supervised environment. Where follow-up care was required, appointment information was shared with parents and caregivers to support attendance and continuity of treatment.
