June 2025 Snapshot
This June, our dental clinic and pharmacy continued to support the health of residents in Mavrovouni refugee camp on Lesvos, Greece. In this blog post, we share some of the key numbers that reflect the impact of our work this month.
Throughout June, our dental team welcomed 205 visits and provided 211 treatments. Almost half of the people who came to us were in pain, seeking urgent care. Fillings were the most common treatment, followed by cleanings and extractions.
Seventy of our patients were children and teenagers under eighteen. This shows how important it is for young people in the camp to have access to dental care. People came with many different concerns – from severe toothaches and decay to broken teeth, abscesses, and follow-up care.
Our patients came from a wide range of countries. Most were from Afghanistan and Syria, with others from Egypt, Somalia, Sudan, Eritrea, Yemen, Palestine, and Guinea.
In our central pharmacy, the team provided 168 prescriptions to 138 people. We work closely with medical teams across the camp to make sure residents received the medication they needed, with most prescriptions coming from our own CMA dental and other medical teams operating in the camp.
Every visit to our clinic or pharmacy reflects CMA’s commitment to providing dignified, compassionate, and high-quality care for people who might otherwise face barriers to accessing it. As we move into July, we remain dedicated to continuing this work with care, respect, and professionalism.
